Happy Birthday to Me!

I just love birthdays. They are the one day when you know you are going to feel special. Yesterday was my birthday and here is how the day went.
I woke up and went to work in the rain. I know that rain is kind of depressing but I'm used to rain on my birthday, it happens a lot. It was rather warm out though, a jeans day and payday so that was pretty awesome.

When I got to work one of my coteachers put streamers and balloons in my room so it would be festive. She also got me a box of Dots, which I love! My kids kep coming in and telling me Happy Birthday and one even got me a red velvet cake. Momma, Daddy, Ashley and Jason sent me beautiful flowers which I took a picture of for you to enjoy. At lunch we had some more cake and all 100 of my students sang "Happy Birthday" to me in the cafeteria. The assistant principal came in because she thought something major was going on.

When I came home Jason had roses for me. He also had rose petals and balloons wait for me as well. Dixie was siting on the stairs when I got home and had the look of "look what I did Momma" on her face. It was pretty cute.

We went and ate hibachi for dinner. It is something I have been craving since August so I was really happy to get some. Our friends Ben and Allison met us for dinner and we had a great time. That is pretty much the highlights for the day. I just love feeling so loved!

Today has been another rainy day and tomorrow it is supposed to snow all day. I'm all up for some snow but I'm also over winter. I am ready for spring and warmth. I'm also ready to meet my baby girl. Only a few more weeks!!

Valentine's Weekend

I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day, I think its a silly holiday created by women who don't have men that show thier love any other time throughout the year. Jason and I have not really ever celebrated the day since I'd rather do something special 13 days later on my birthday. Well here is how the weekend went.
Friday stunk since Jason lost his job that morning and I cried all afternoon. Once we got through the initial shock and realized God is in control Jeffrey and Courtney came in from Tennessee for the weekend. We went to Briar Patch for some yummy Hickory Fries and then rented a movie.
Saturday we went and had burgers at 5 Guys (I totally reccommed them to anyone in the Atlanta area) and then saw a house that Jason and Ben will be working on in their business. We then went by Publix and got steaks to grill for dinner that night. The coolest thing happened while there ... I was looking at ribeyes and there was a package of three labeled "pork back rib tips" which were clearly steaks. The best part was the price was 2.75. So we bought 3 steaks for less than 3 dollars! God is totally watching out for us! We came back and worked on a puzzle, cooked dinner and played cards. It was a great weekend.
Today was church, which I love so much and now Jason is at flag football practice. He's going to the lock in at the bowling alley tonight and I know he's super excited to get to do that now since he doesn't have to work. I plan on grading papers, writing thank you cards, working on the baby book, and cleaning some of the house while he's gone. I'm also going to watch the Daytona 500 and hope that Dale Jr. wins! I love Sundays because they are so relaxing and fun!

Praising through the storm

As you know Jason and I are about 6 1/2 weeks from the arrival of our baby girl. Well, yesterday we got some rather unhappy news. Jason lost his job. If we're going to have to lose anything I'd rather it be a job than a person but its still going to be pretty tough. Jason had been working there for over a year and was unhappy with what he was doing so it is a blessing in that hopefully he can find a job he loves. What he really wants to do is teach and coach. There is a hiring freeze across the state but Paulding County is having a job fair for critical need teachers. I am praying that he will get a job in special education next year and he will be happy.
I of coarse cried for a while yesterday when he told me. I know that God has a plan and that He is going to provide for us. He has never let us down before and he won't now either. The thing that is really making me feel at ease is I just read "Multiple Blessings" by Kate Gosslin (Jon and Kate plus 8). While they were expecting the sextuplets Jon lost his job twice. If they can make it with two already and expecting 6 more Jason and I can make it expecting only one.
This is a test of our faith and I know we will come out of it loving the Lord even more and so much stronger in our faith.

New Fridge

Well, I know that I am getting older beacuse my wish list is now in terms of appliances. Momma and Daddy got a new fridge and they gave us their old one. So our "new" fridge is a HUGE improvement over the old one. We now have an ice maker!!!!! Hooray for no more ice trays! This one also has more space which will come in handy when I start keeping bottles in there.
We've also discovered that our dishwasher is clogged. This actually makes me happy because I thought it was broken and we'd have to get a new one. Jason and his Dad are supposed to unclog it tonight. Hopefully that is all it is and we don't have to get a new one. I'd love a new dishwasher but its not a priority right now. I really love improving on our house. It makes me happy to have a nice, neat, clean, inviting home. Anyways, thats all for now!
